Ah! Would u look at that. My last post was a month ago....totally by mistake, I didn't plan it to post it exactly a month after my last one... this is just the first good chunk of actual free time that I've had in... a month.
So, I've bee in lovely TN since... the 24th of June. We left that morning and made RECORD time by getting here in about 13 hours (it should take anywhere from 16-20 depending on traffic and who is driving, etc). We made it here in such good time partially because I'm a total lead foot and didn't really go below 85. And then Sandy is a whole other story. She didn't go below 90 and hit about 100 following some guy on I-81 for a good 20 mins. So yeah, we made some fantastic time.
That weekend we had a party for my grandpa's b-day. My Aunt Karen, Uncle Mike and cousins Josh and Joseph came over for the day. It was pretty fun and it was good seeing them again. The rest of the week we did some stuff around town. Went to Dollywood and Dolly's Splash Country and stuff. My mom and Sandy left the following Friday (the 30th).
I started work again at good ol' Aunt Granny's on the 29th after much trouble and fussing in the personal offices. I should have started 3 days before that, but they failed to tell me that I needed my birth certificate with me again before I could start working. It didn't even cross my mind to bring it because I knew they had eveything on file from last year. But nope, they couldn't use it even though it was right there in front of their faces on the freaking computer screen. So, Allen FedExed it to me overnight (cost me 27 bucks, but it was worth it) and we finally got everything straightened out. Aunt Granny's Year 2, here I come.
So basically work has been a slight pain in the ass. We're just massively understaffed and half the cooks are stupid and don't listen to us when we say we're running low on a certain type of food, so we end up running out and then the line workers (the people who take the food out to the buffet, ie:me) get yelled at for it by the guests. So my first week there was an absolute nightmare. That week, on Wednesday I was scheduled to open the shop, meaning I had to be in there by 6 AM, which isn't all that bad once you get used to being up at 5 in the summer. So yeah, I was due to leave at 3, but one of the line workers quit (the cute Russian kid named Yury) so they asked me to stay at close so Abby wouldn't have to do it by herself. So I had to stay till 9:30 that night. And to top all that off, I had to be up at 5 the next morning to come in and open. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper by Thursday morning, no to mentioned I was stiff as hell and could barely walk. Quite fun.
Plus sides of that whole fiasco: 1. I got to close with Abby and she's basically amazing and so much fun to talk to. 2. It makes for a real nice paycheck to get in that many hours in one week
Cons of said Fiasco: 1.Not being able to walk 2. being so tired that it's just icky. 3. the only cute guy that worked at Granny's quit.Bye Bye eye candy
But work has been getting a little better. The only thing I'm having a problem with is they're making me close by myself a few times a week (it's a lot of work for one person) and the fact that they're constantly having me close one night and turning around and opening the next morning. So after closing I don't get home til almost 10, so I basically have to come home shower and go straight to bed to be up by 5. It's not very fun.
In non-work related news: My Uncle Danny (my mom's twin and my all time favorite Uncle) has been staying with us. Long story short: he's going through a divorce and lost his job with Nascar, so he needs a place to stay. I'm glad he's staying here tho. He's seriously the greatest ever. He's like a kid and he's so much fun to hang around with. And to top it off his boys, Josh and Gabe, have been coming over on Saturday's. Before a couple weeks ago I hadn't seen them in like 3 or 4 years. Gabe was only 1 then and Josh was I think 3. So it's been really great getting to see those 2 and to play with them and stuff. They're so freaking adorable.
In other news, Shawn and I have been together for a Year and a flippin' half as of the first of this month
so woooooooooooooooot for that
I guess I could ramble about today a little? It was basically boring to start off with. I had the day off (thank God for that). Woke up around like 10 and did a mass amount of dishes. Played with the doggies, did some reading, blah blah blah. Went with Amber to rent some games and movies around 5 once she got off work. Got "The Libertine" it was really weird and pretty good, but not amazing like I thought it would be. Oh well. And Amber's cat absolutely mauled my damn arm during the movie. I was petting him, and then Amber started poking him really hard and he attacked me. My left arm is all shredded up quite nicely and it hurts like a mofo.
Ok, so on that note I think it's time for bed. I have work tomorrow
I promise I'll try to be better about updating
